How to Make Lipton Green Tea With Matcha

Lipton green tea with matcha is made like a tea bag, not like a bowl of loose matcha powder. Use the current package directions first. Lipton’s guide recommends hot water that is below a full boil and a short steep, and the exact blend, size and instructions can vary by market.

Basic hot method

  1. Boil fresh water, then let it stand briefly so it is hot rather than violently boiling.
  2. Place one Lipton green-tea-with-matcha bag in a mug.
  3. Pour in the amount of water stated on the package and steep for the listed time; about 1.5–2 minutes is a useful starting point when no instructions are available.
  4. Remove the bag, taste, and add lemon, milk or a small amount of sweetener if desired.

Make it iced

Steep the bag in a smaller volume of hot water, remove it, and pour the stronger tea over ice. Or brew a larger batch, cool it promptly and refrigerate it in a covered container. Drink it plain or add milk just before serving.

How it differs from powdered matcha

A tea bag contains a blend of tea leaves and matcha, so it is strained out after steeping. Loose matcha powder is whisked into water and consumed with the drink. Do not empty a tea bag into a bowl and expect the same texture or strength.

Check the actual package for ingredients, caffeine and serving information. Those details are more reliable than a generic recipe, especially when the product or country differs.
